Mexican Restaurant Dining Tips Part 2

Mexican Restaurant Dining Tips Part 2

In our last blog, we gave you some tips when dining at your local Mexican Restaurant. Here are some more tips to enhance your dining experience.

Here are some dining tips next time you visit a Mexican Restaurant:

- Try the Guacamole! Did you know the name has its origins in an Aztec language which translates to avocado sauce. Guacamole is made by mashing peeled, ripe avocados and salt with a mortar and pestle. Frequently you can find ingredients such as fresh lime juice, chopped cilantro, diced onions, and sliced jalapeños. But every restaurant is different so that’s why you should always try the Guac at a new, to you, Mexican Restaurant you never know what ingredients they will include. In the U.S., Guacamole is especially consumed on Super Bowl Sunday and Cinco de Mayo. The U.S. government lifted a ban on avocado imports in the 1990s allowing for more avocados to flow across the border from Mexico where they were first cultivated.

- Try the Margarita House Special! The signature margarita really speaks to the character of the Mexican restaurant or the origins of the family that runs it. Mixology can be a really fun experimentation. A house margarita is a good way to tell how they balance their flavors and alcohol when you order their house margarita, before diving into the fun flavors.

- Try ‘Con Todo’ when ordering your Tacos! Toppings that come with a taco can vary as much as the options of meat or vegetarian alternatives within them. Every restaurant has their special blend that can always be optionally added. Sometimes these toppings aren’t included because they don’t suit every palate or have an additional cost, but are still valuable to complete the dish and bring it to a new level.

- Ask for extra cheese on your Beans! Most of the time beans are served on their own, but to add extra flavor and motivation to finish them, ask the server for cheese on top. This is a small ask for the kitchen and should be easy for any restaurant to handle. Finish those beans!
