Top Summer Mexican Food

Mexican food is undoubtedly a year-round favorite, but some dishes are more reminiscent of summer days than others. When it comes to Mexican cuisine, the focus is on intensely flavorful and fresh combinations. During the summer months, fresh produce and herbs are at their peak, making Mexican food the perfect choice to indulge in on a hot summer’s night.

Here are a few of our favorite dishes that celebrate the fresh flavors of summer, all on the menu at Mazatlan Mexican Restuarant:

Fresh Guacamole

Guacamole is made by pressing fresh avocados into a creamy dip, flavored with salt and pepper. This Mexican delicacy is prepared right before it’s served to keep its familiar green hue, making it a truly fresh and delicious dish.

Guacamole is often served alongside tortilla chips as a dip, but it can also be used as a topping for a number of different dishes. At Mazatlan, we make our guacamole using avocados that have reached peak freshness, combined with diced onion, tomato, fresh cilantro, and a squeeze of lime juice.

Shrimp and Fish Tacos

On hot summer days, lighter meals are typically more appealing. Fish and shrimp are great options for a filling meal that isn’t too heavy after a day of soaking up the sun. Plus, seafood is a healthy choice that’s high in protein, vitamins, and minerals.

Our fish tacos are made with breaded cod that’s deep-fried, topped with fresh pico de gallo, cabbage, and chipotle sauce served in either flour or corn tortillas. Or, make your own wraps by ordering our Camarones Fajitas: Prawns sauteed with bell peppers and onions, served with our fresh guacamole, sour cream, and flour or corn tortillas.

Chimichangas

Chimichangas are a traditional Mexican favorite. These Tex-Mex burritos are filled with the meat and cheese of your choice, then deep-fried until they achieve a golden brown hue. Chimichangas are typically served hot out of the fryer alongside pico de gallo, sour cream, and guacamole.

At Mazatlan, we offer a few different chimichanga options on our menu. First, we have our seafood chimichanga, which is full of shrimp, crab, fish, celery, and onions. Or, try our classic chimichanga, filled with your choice of chicken, picadillo, ground beef, or pork chile verde. For a healthier alternative, we also offer a grilled chimichanga with the regular filling options, all grilled in a tortilla instead of deep-fried.
